Throwdown, the legendary metalcore outfit from Orange County, California, made their triumphant return to the stage this past weekend at Furnace Fest, their first show in eight years.
The band, who formed in 1997, have gone on to become one of the most influential bands in the metalcore/hardcore scene, having released five full-length albums and several EPs and singles over the course of their career.
Their performance at Furnace Fest was a reminder of why the band has been so successful: their incredibly tight musicianship, powerful stage presence, and their ability to get the crowd moving and singing along to their anthemic lyrics.
The setlist was a greatest hits of the band’s material, from their early days to their later albums, and the crowd absolutely loved it. They opened with their fan favorite “Haymaker” and then proceeded to play almost every song from their first three albums, as well as a few tracks from the more recent releases.
The crowd was in a frenzy the entire time, and it was clear that the band was still as tight and as powerful as ever. They were obviously having a great time playing together and were clearly enjoying themselves and each other’s company.
The show ended with the crowd chanting for an encore and the band obliged with their classic “Forever,” which had the entire place singing along.
It was a great show and a reminder of why Throwdown is one of the most beloved and respected bands in the metalcore/hardcore scene. Here’s hoping they’ll be back soon with more shows and more new music.
